Embrace the Embarrassment ๐Ÿ‘‡

What makes a story stick? What makes it truly connect? There’s a difference between storytelling that’s good and storytelling that’s unforgettable. And here’s the truth: the path to mastery isn’t glamorous; it’s uncomfortable.

How to Get Better, Faster

If you want to supercharge your storytelling and public speaking skills, you need to embrace one thing: discomfort. Early in my journey, I went out of my way to embarrass myself. Why? Because when you push your limits far enough, you never snap back to your old state.

Here’s what I did:

๐ŸŽค Spoke to a room full of drunk people at a comedy club. (Spoiler: I got booed off the stage.)

๐ŸŽญ Joined an improv comedy group and performed in front of sold-out crowds. It was messy, awkward, and humbling, but it was the perfect training ground.

I built resilience by putting myself in situations where failure was almost guaranteed. When it came time to speak in a business setting, it felt easy in comparison.

Your Shortcut to Success:

If you want to take 5 years to get comfortable, you can follow the slow, agonizing route. But if you want to speed up the process, embrace the awkwardness now. Join clubs, find organizations, or take improv classes. The faster you get to the embarrassing moments, the faster you’ll improve.
Test Your Stories in Real-Time

Platforms like LinkedIn give you instant feedback on your storytelling.

Here’s how to use it:

1๏ธโƒฃ Share your stories.
2๏ธโƒฃ Watch how people respond (what resonates and what doesn’t).
3๏ธโƒฃ Refine and add the best stories to your talks, workshops, or keynotes.

Social media isn’t just a platform; it’s a testing ground for your storytelling.
