The election was so close that it had to be decided by Congress. ๐
A couple of years ago, I made a goal of going to every presidential museum.
So far, I've been to:
-George Washington
-Thomas Jefferson
-James Buchanan
-Abraham Lincoln
-Rutherford B. Hayes
-Woodrow Wilson
-Warren G. Harding
-Franklin D. Roosevelt
-Lyndon B. Johnson
-Richard Nixon
-Jimmy Carter
-Ronald Reagan
-George H. W. Bush
-George W. Bush
...museums.
Each one fascinates me because they're all steeped in exciting stories and history.
You learn about the President's mistakes and victories.
Today is Rutherford B. Hayes's birthday, and I found his museum quite interesting.
Hayes came within inches of losing in his elections.
๐ When he ran for Governor of Ohio, he only won by 1.61% of the vote.
๐ Hayes and his opponent did not receive the electoral votes to win when they ran for president. The election was so close that it had to be decided by Congress.
How did President Hayes position himself for victory?
๐ฃ He gave an absurd number of speeches.
His goal was to connect with as many people as humanly possible. The strategy worked.
Happy Birthday, Rutherford B. Hayes.
Thanks for teaching us the importance of communication and not giving up!
